United Way Awards “Bright Apple” To Dedicated Parrott Middle Team

On Wednesday, February 4th, United Way of Hernando County presented their “Bright Apple Award” to D.S. Parrott Middle School for their community involvement when it comes to investing in core solutions. Each year United Way honors a school with the traveling trophy that has shown community support through either Giving, Advocating, or Volunteering. United Way is happy to announce that this year's WINNER has done all three!

D.S. Parrott Middle School had a high volunteer participation rate for 2014's Stuff the Bus. Their very own Principal Mr. Brent Gaustad and Assistant Principal Patricia Martin donated their time at a bus location to raise awareness for their local classrooms. United Way found Parrott's enthusiasm and community collaboration efforts inspiring. Parrott's faculty also partakes in United Way's Community Investment Campaign each year and even managed to increase their annual pledge contributions. Faculty pledged over $1,400! United Way's Board of Directors and staff would like to thank D.S. Parrott Middle School and all Hernando County Schools for their leadership and community passion.
