United Way’s FREE Tax Preparation Service
Scheduling is Now Open: Call or Book an Appointment Online for FREE Tax Preparation
Spring Hill, FL – January 26, 2022 – United Way of Hernando County's Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program is now scheduling appointments. VITA sites open this year during the last week of January and run through mid-April. Residents interested in this FREE tax preparation service at the Spring Hill Library or Brooksville Main Library can easily book an appointment online by visiting www.UnitedWayHernando.org/VITA. If assistance is needed for online scheduling, residents can call 352-688-8502 and a United Way representative will be happy to assist. For appointments at the United Way of Hernando County office, call 352-251-7178. For appointments at the High Point and Brookridge community centers, call 352-691-2165.
“Our highest priority is the health and safety of our VITA Volunteers and Clients,” explains United Way of Hernando County’s Executive Director/CEO, Angie B. Walasek. “Due to COVID-19, this financial stability initiative will have implemented safety precautions at each VITA location. Locations will have hand sanitizing stations, partitioned Tax Preparers, equipment wipe downs after every appointment, and social distancing procedures.”

You may be eligible to receive an EARNED INCOME TAX CREDIT worth up to $6,728
This free tax preparation is available to those who:
- have a low-to-moderate income (generally, $60,000 and below)
- have no rental property or farm income
- have a small Schedule C-EZ (Expenses $35,000 or less and no net loss)
- must have picture ID (husband and wife, if married)
- must have Social Security Card(s) or statement from Social Security Office for all listed on Return
- Form 1095-A (Health Insurance Statement, if applicable) Letter 6419 (Advance Child Tax Credit Payments, if applicable)
- Bring a copy of previous year’s tax return (if available)
