On February 23rd, Scott Taylor from the Hernando County Extension Services’ Florida Master Money Mentors program and United Way staff member Dominique Holmes attended the Board of County Commissioners meeting and presented the America Saves Week (ASW) Proclamation where Hernando County Commissioners adopted America Saves Week as February 22-27, 2016!
America Saves is a national social marketing campaign to persuade, encourage, and motivate Americans to take financial action in building wealth through saving money and reducing debt.
United Way of Hernando County and the HC Extension Services' Florida Master Money Mentors program are Community Partners in the America Saves campaign and are committed to helping our community members take immediate financial action to Build Wealth, Not Debt, by pledging to save and connecting them to local workshops and resources such as VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) who also encourage this financial stability initiative and smart savings.
America Saves and its partners are promoting a new initiative throughout this tax filing season, to help residents save by putting away $50 of their federal tax refund this year for a chance to win cash prize drawings and a $25,000 Grand Prize, #SaveYourRefund.
United Way of Hernando County encourage citizens of Hernando County to increase retirement savings, start or increase an emergency funds, challenge employees or customers to save, or take other positive wealth‐building action during AMERICA SAVES WEEK, and pledge to sustain that action during the following year.
