2016 Cinema For A Cause Results!

Georgia Theatre Company held the 13th Annual Cinema for a Cause charity event to raise money for area charity groups in their local communities on October 16th, 2016

St. Simons Island, GA., November 14, 2016 Georgia Theatre Company is pleased to announce the 13th Annual Cinema for a Cause event on Sunday, October 16, 2016 at their twenty-four locations throughout Georgia, Florida, South Carolina, and Virginia was a huge success.

Customers came to the movies on Sunday, October 16, where 100% of all admission tickets and concession purchases were donated to local charity groups chosen by each theatre staff. “The theatre is a place where communities come together to share a common experience,” said Bo Chambliss, President of Georgia Theatre Company. “We appreciate all that our employees do to make the movie-going experience as enjoyable as possible. We are grateful to allow the managers and their staff select charities to support in the local community. It is a great way for us and for them to give back.”

This year’s event raised a total of $157,920 to benefit 36 local charities. This unique event has allowed Georgia Theatre Company to donate $1.34 million to local charity groups throughout the past thirteen years. “We take pride in being a part of every community where we have a theatre,” said Bill Stembler, Chairman and CEO, Georgia Theatre Company. “Giving all of our proceeds for one day is a small way for us to show appreciation for the communities that support us all of the time.”

HERNANDO RESULTS:
Over $10,826 was locally raised that day through the participating theatre in Hernando, Beacon Stadium Cinemas. Recipient charity groups for this market this year are United Way of Hernando County, Building a Foundation, and Variety of Georgia, with Variety of Georgia receiving 10 percent of the proceeds and the other groups receiving one-half of the remaining proceeds from his location on event day.
