Every Child Deserves a Library of Their Own
Help put books into the hands of Hernando County's youngest readers and give children the foundation they
need to learn, grow, and thrive.
Every child deserves the opportunity to discover the joy of reading. Through United Way of Hernando County's Dolly Parton's Imagination Library, local children from birth to age five can receive a free, age-appropriate book delivered directly to their homes every month.
With the support of generous individuals, businesses, and community partners, we're helping families build home libraries, encourage early learning, and prepare children for a successful start in kindergarten.
A Little Book. A Big Difference.
In memory of Dolly Parton's vision to inspire a lifelong love of reading, United Way of Hernando County is proud to serve as the local affiliate of Dolly Parton's Imagination Library.
Since launching our local program in 2009, we have helped put hundreds of thousands of books into the hands of Hernando County's youngest readers.
Through this free program, enrolled children from birth through age five receive a specially selected, age-appropriate book delivered directly to their homes every month. Regardless of a family's income, children can build their own home libraries and discover the joy of reading with the people who matter most.
Who can participate?
Children from birth through age five who meet the program's local eligibility and enrollment requirements may be eligible to receive books. Books are mailed directly to enrolled children's homes at no cost to their families.
