Dementia Care Seminar for Caregivers

United Way Hernando Hosts 11th Annual Event

Spring Hill, FL – United Way of Hernando County will be hosting their 11th Annual Dementia Care Seminar on Wednesday, November 2, 2022 from 9:30am-1:00pm at Oak Hill Senior Living Community. This free seminar is for families and caregivers focusing on loved ones with Alzheimer’s or dementia. Often times, caregivers forget to care for themselves. It is important they have a community behind them reminding them they are not alone. Caregivers will hear directly from knowledgeable guest speakers with first-hand experience, as they share tips, tools, and resources for the different aspects of this journey.

Dementia Spotlight Foundation’s Educational Director, author, and longtime collaborator Gary Joseph LeBlanc will be presenting on the A-Z’s of dementia-related diagnoses as well as best case practices, communication tactics and strategies to handle behaviors that come with dementia care. He utilizes his 5,000 plus days and nights of personal caregiving experience to help other Alzheimer’s and dementia caregivers cope with the everyday challenges and emotional struggles of caring for the memory-impaired. Fellow guest speakers Dr. Lauren Dedea, M.D. from Toast & Toller Concierge Medicine and Elder Law Attorney Michelangelo Mortellaro from Mortellaro Law will also share valuable primary care resources and legal services.

Oak Hill Senior Living Community is located at 7411 Cortez Oaks Blvd. Brooksville, FL 34613. Join United Way for breakfast and lunch, while exploring a variety of health vendors from 211, Always Near Home Care Deaf & Hard of Hearing Services, Hernando County Sheriff’s Office Community Policing Unit, Home Instead, NAMI Hernando, and so many more specialties.

Reserve your seat by calling 352-688-2026 or email Angie@UnitedWayHernando.org. Attendees are asked to please check in through the Main Entrance.
