What is a Long Term Recovery Group?

A Long-Term Recovery Group (LTRG) aims to coordinate various organizations within a community to assist individuals and families in recovering from a disaster by addressing ongoing needs that may not be met by immediate response efforts, focusing on aspects like housing, financial assistance, mental health support, and community rebuilding, ensuring everyone in the affected area has access to necessary resources for Long-Term Recovery.

 


Hernando County's Long-Term Recovery Group

Mission: "To provide coordinated, comprehensive recovery services to individuals and families impacted by disasters in Hernando County, addressing unmet needs and facilitating a resilient community by leveraging public, private, and non-profit collaborative partnerships and accessible resources."

Vision: "To create a resilient community where every individual affected by a disaster has access to comprehensive support, enabling them to rebuild their lives and thrive in a fully recovered environment, regardless of their circumstances."

Conducts intake and assessments, capturing and streamlining residents impacted and/or unmet needs. Reviews cases for submission to the Unmet Needs Committee. This committee also provides professionals able to recognize, capture, and refer additional resources needed (mental & behavioral health services, other assistance services, etc.)

Receives and acts on referrals/applications/unmet needs from the Case Management Committee. Consists of members and non-members bringing money (financial support), materials (donations, equipment, supplies, furniture, appliances, etc.) or muscle (volunteer labor crews and expertise) to meet the needs of individuals who have been evaluated by the Case Management process

first responders during both relief and recovery.

Oversees the coordination and scheduling of all rebuilding and repair projects approved by the Hernando County LTRG process – a project manager function.

Helps communicate, coordinate, recruit, organize, secure, track, report out on any and all affiliated and unaffiliated volunteers when needed – including, but not limited to activities and duties.
