Elementary Students’ Artwork Featured on Holiday Cards
UNITED WAY’S ANNUAL HOLIDAY CARD COLORING CONTEST

Spring Hill, FL – (December 21, 2023) - United Way of Hernando County hosted their 9th Annual Holiday Card Coloring Contest this fall. Hernando County students from pre-school through 5th grade had the chance to participate and color a holiday snow globe themed coloring sheet. Students were encouraged to submit their finished artwork, where 5 lucky winners that creatively embraced the LIVE UNITED spirit were selected. The winners’ artwork is featured on the cover of United Way’s 2023 Holiday Cards. These fun and crafty cards are sent out to over 300 community partners, local businesses, Board of Directors, Partner Agencies and more!

United Way had an impressive total of 123 children enter the contest this year. Reviewing each and every submitted sheet was such an exciting opportunity for the United Way Student Board (Hernando County students, ages 15-20) members to deliberate over. “The Student Board did such an amazing job evaluating every piece of artwork. There were so many amazing submissions this year that it was difficult for them to just choose 5,” said United Way’s Executive Director, Angie Walasek. “We at United Way love the opportunity to make our holiday cards in-house while promoting local talent,” said Walasek. “Some of the artwork we received back were from pre-school students, and they were beautiful!”

Congratulations to the following talented young artists! Your vibrant colors, attention to detail, and artistic flare have truly impressed us all. As you continue to explore your creative journey, remember that art has the power to inspire, uplift, and connect people from all walks of life. We encourage you all to keep nurturing your artistic talents, for you have the potential to create a world filled with color, imagination, and endless possibilities.
